The Abingdon Prescription Service

REPEAT PRESCRIPTION

Please make your request by ticking the items you need on the detachable counterfoil from your last prescription. If you have lost or mislaid this, a written request is acceptable but please remember to include your full name and date of birth. In the interest of your safety we do not accept requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone but a faxed or emailed (abingdonmedical@nhs.net) request is entirely acceptable (fax no. 020 7795 8480). The prescription will be ready for collection within two working days. If you would like it posted back to you please enclose a SAE but do make allowance for possible postal delay.

New items may not be added to your list of repeat medication without prior consultation with a doctor or practice nurse. In the event of any problems one of our practice nurses will be happy to discuss the matter with you outside of their surgery times[back to top].

TEST RESULTS

Please telephone the practice between 14.00 and 15.00 Monday to Friday (not Thursday) to obtain the results of your investigations. You should telephone one week after the test has been carried out. The doctor will usually advise the receptionist of your results, allowing information to be passed on to you over the telephone. Sometimes the doctor may want to discuss the result with you and you may be asked to make an appointment. The reason for this is that some laboratory results are complicated to translate and are, therefore, better explained by your doctor. Specimens may be left with the reception desk before 3.00pm Monday to Friday excluding Thursdays when they should be left before 1.00pm. Please ensure that the specimen containers are properly labelled as investigations are not carried out on un-labelled specimens[back to top].
